Pat I am heartbroken. i was shocked to see this in the paper. Please know I shared to our class page and there were so many comments. I will be praying for you, Steve, Mike and families. God Bless, Laurie Zukaitis
I met Jane when she would work alongside Patrick at many of Godiva Track Club activities. Always interested and enthusiastic, Jane gave so much of her time and energy to help the club and it’s members. I got to know Jane much better after her cancer diagnosis. Her good humor, courage and determination were impressive. Jane has been and continues to be an inspiration for me.
I met Jane in 1997 when I became a music teacher for Durham Public Schools. She thought you guys are moving back to Wisconsin and wanted to know if I would like the job at Easley. She was integral in helping me get hired at Easley. Of course, I stayed and retired from there.
She and were involved in many Durham, public school, activities, and state activities with our choral students.
She has touched so many lives through her love for music.
After we both retired in 2019, we met for lunch one day, and shared our stories of battling cancer and the battles we both faced.
Throughout that time, we became supporters and uplifters in each others lives. I remember Jane made me a little pink bag to keep things in, and gave me a very sweet keychain, which are used to this day. As I continue to battle cancer, I will miss her support and love through it, but will always keep her words in my mind and heart.
The memories I have of Jane will live in my heart forever, and I count it a blessing to have been a part of her life personally and professionally. She will be sorely missed.
Prayers and condolences now and in the days to come for you Patrick. She loved you with all her heart.
My heartfelt sympathy to Pat, Jane’s family, friends & the chorus of music students Jane’s nurtured through these many years. I greatly admired Jane for her integrity, her striving for excellence in music, teaching & life. She was a caring, steadfast friend to all who knew her, always a champion for her students. We all have been more than fortunate to have known her, been in her presence & at any of her concerts. Sing on with the angels, dear Jane.
Jane was one of the most dedicated and gifted teachers I have ever known. Her concern for, and interest in, her students was obvious to all, and students from her past were always popping up to see her again. She was able to bring out the best in her students, and her concerts were memorable. My Christmases will always be enriched by the amazing CDs she made of her Christmas programs. Jane taught hundreds of children and often sacrificed her time and resources to help those who were less fortunate. If a child didn’t have transportation on the evening of a concert, she made sure that a way was provided for them to get there. The transformation of these children was manifested in the beauty of the music Jane managed to draw from them.
Since my retirement, I have lost touch with Jane, and I am sad not to have told her how much I appreciated her many kind words and gestures. She will be long remembered by those fortunate students who experienced her inspiring teaching. Her love for them was only surpassed by her great love for her husband, Patrick.
Sending deepest condolences to Jane’s family and friends. I had the pleasure of working with Jane at Githens Middle School. As a young new teacher dealing with all of the challenges that experience entails, Jane was a kind, generous, and positive voice to help me navigate the world. She was commuted to music education and bringing students to enjoy musical experiences that they might not otherwise have the privilege to enjoy. She brought in the talents of colleagues to show students that even if it is not your profession, music is part of a whole, fulfilling life.
I am so sorry I was not able to join the celebration of her memory yesterday, but I comfort in the fact that her impact ripples through generations.
I met Jane in 1975, when I was very blessed to live with the Dickoff’s family, as I was an exchange student in Eau Claire, WI at that time.
I will be forever grateful to Jane and everyone in the Dickoff’s family, for letting me be a part of their family, and for giving me all the love and support.
Jane was an amazing woman from a very young age. She was my dearest sister. She took great care of me and was always concerned about me and my family. She will always be very special to me and will live forever in my heart.
Certainly, Jane is in a better place, in heaven, having joyous reunion with Dad, Mom and Mary Ann.
I will miss Jane dearly and cherish the memories we shared. Rest in peace, dear sister. You will forever be loved and remembered by your Brazilian family (Afranio, Mary, Gustavo, Guilherme and family)
I will pray for Pat, Mike, Betsy, Steve, Dona, family and friends that they find peace and comfort at this difficult moment.
Jane and I met many years ago in the pool at the UNC Wellness Center. We both enjoyed the aqua aerobic classes. And we always had quick chats in the changing room before getting into the pool. We missed seeing Jane in the pool and when we knew she was as ill as she was she was always on our minds. We kept hoping for the best and saddened to hear the worst. RIP Jane.
My sincere condolences to the entire family! I met Jane as part of my genealogy research. She was my 6th cousin.
